Peter Yuen, Ph. D. CA

Peter Yuen, Ph. D. CA is a Board Certified Acupuncturist, with over 30 years of practice experience, with an emphasis in pain management.

Dr. Yuen started to learn Chinese Medicine Acupuncture and Moxibustion at the early age of 16, from his Tai Chi Teacher, who was a Chinese Herbal Doctor. Later, in 1960, He came to the U.S. for college. He earned His B.S. Degree at California Baptist University in 1965, and His M.S. Degree at Loma Linda University in 1968. After He Graduated at Loma Linda University, He started work as a research associate in the Loma Linda University School Of Medicine, and that lasted from 1968-73. His study revolved around what makes a fetus grow, and how nutrients from the mother transfer to the fetus. The object of his study was the placenta. He published two articles:
"Anaerobic Glycogen-Dependant Transfer of Amino Acids by the Placenta" Nature 243: 531-533, 1973.
"Amino Acid Transport in Placental Slices: Mechanism of Increase Accumulination by Prolonged Incubation" Biochemical & Biophysical Acia. 401: 278-284, 1975.

In 1972, Dr. Yuen attended Chinese Medical University in Hong Kong and earned his diploma in Scientific Acupuncture. In 1973, he joined the Anesthesiology Department in the Loma Linda School of Medicine, part time (full time in 1975), to help start the Pain Clinic, specializing in pain management, and worked there until 2002. He then joined the Haider Spine Center in 2002. Dr. Yuen started his own private practice in Redlands, also in 2002, after thirty five years with Loma Linda University. During his time at the Loma Linda University Pain Clinic he started two programs: "Loma Linda Chronic Back Program," 1983. "Back Conditioning Program," 1984

In 1985, Dr. Yuen obtained his Ph. D. from the University of Oriental Studies. Also, he has lectured in many cities in the U.S. from 1978-1988, on Acupuncture and Acupressure.

Dr. Yuen, also started the "Chronic Pain Detox Program." That involved detoxing patients who were addicted to pain medication. At this time, three hospitals are using his programs.
